I have 9 old, wrinkly friends, who are retired or semi-retired. Five of them all used to work together and the other four are husbands. They didn't want to lose touch when they retired so they decided to meet and have lunch or dinner when it was their birthdays. However, they got disenchanted with buying a present every time, and decided instead to give a Birthday Bear (thats me.) I get passed from one birthday person to the next each time they meet. The fun part is, that I get to be dressed differently each time, usually to reflect some aspect of the recipient's personality or life.
PS: Two of my wrinklies, Chris and Bob, have gone on a working holiday tour around Australia so they don't celebrate with us very often.
Ii was Diane's Birthday and I'm looking forward to going bushwalking with her when she gets better. She has a bad cough at the moment and she hasn't been able to go for her early morning walks.
So here I am with my camera and water bottle walking among the gum trees with the koalas and wallabies.
Mary dressed me for the celebrations held at the Sunnybank Hotel.
It was so nice of Chris and Bob to drive all the way here from their place up past Gympie. It was kind of Helen to put them up for the night and it was kind of Diane to take me home with her and feed me chocolate while we watch TV together. Soon we will walk together in the forest.
Its Mary's Birthday. We all went to Caloundra on the north coast to celebrate at the Power Boat Club. I was so excited because I was going on a trip on "The Ghan" a very famous Australian train, which travels across the whole country from North to South. Mary has just done the trip and now it is my turn.
The train is called "The Ghan" because it follows the route that the Afghan cameleers used when they were the only form of transport in the outback.
All my old wrinkly friends were there too.
Chris was the one who made my train for Mary's Birthday. Diane spilled red wine al over Ann but none came my way. Still no honey for me but I had a nice dessert.
It was Ann's birthday and we all went to the "White House Restaurant" in Waterford. I was so excited when Chris made an airboat for me to ride in. Ann really enjoyed her airboat ride when she was on holidays in the Northern Territory. Now I can take Ann for a ride in my boat anytime. We just have to be careful of those pesky crocodiles.
I love my airboat.
Ouch a crocodile has jumped in the boat. I have a bandage on my knee to match Ann's sore knee.
The food was delicious not that I was given much.
I get stuffed into a carry bag and taken home by the birthday girl. Chris and Helen dressed me for Ann.
It was Helen's birthday. We went to the Lighthouse Restaurant to celebrate. It was a cold windy day by the bay. I was sitting in the dog park doing some knitting while the dogs were having fun. I will be helping Helen take her dog, Deja to the park everyday.
Mary helped me get dressed today.
The wrinklies had a nice seafood lunch but there was no honey for me. I had to make do with chips.
It was Mary's birthday and we went to the Pacific Golf Club to celebrate. Helen helped me get dressed and she bandaged my wound. Just like Mary I was working in the garden and cut myself with the shears. I had to have stitches and a tetanus shot just like Mary did. Ouch it hurt!!
Can you see the blood is still dripping out.
Helen is giving me the shot. I am being very brave.
It was Chris's birthday. She has just come back from a holiday in Thailand where she enjoyed washing and scrubbing the elephants. So Ann thought it would be fun for me to pretend to be an elephant and I would get some loving scrubs from Chris.
Chris washing an elephant.
Here I am at the Caloundra Power Boat Club Restaurant with my bucket and brush for Chris to use. I bought some little elephant friends who I can wash too.
Ann was the clever one who helped me get dressed for Chris's party.
