BIRTHDAY BEAR TRADITION

I have 9 old, wrinkly friends, who are retired or semi-retired. Five of them all used to work together and the other four are husbands. They didn't want to lose touch when they retired so they decided to meet and have lunch or dinner when it was their birthdays. However, they got disenchanted with buying a present every time, and decided instead to give a Birthday Bear (thats me.) I get passed from one birthday person to the next each time they meet. The fun part is, that I get to be dressed differently each time, usually to reflect some aspect of the recipient's personality or life.
PS: Two of my wrinklies, Chris and Bob, have gone on a working holiday tour around Australia so they don't celebrate with us very often.

TOO TIRED TO CATCH FISH

Helen and Paul went to Burrum Heads for a rest after Paul finished his last dose of cancer treatment. It is a lovely little fishing village but Helen was happy just to chill out and look at the lovely view from her window. On her birthday, Mary dressed me to keep Helen company when she is having a rest.
I rather enjoy this life style. Laying around in my jammies and eating TimTams, delicious chocolate cookies. The view is not bad either. Just secretly, I'd rather do this than be out there with Paul catching fish. Anyway there wasn't any salmon in the river.

We celebrated Helen's birthday at Sunnybank Hotel. Everyone had delicious steak, chicken or fish but I was happy with my TimTams and guess what, I didn't share them with the wrinklies. They are all fat enough. Oops I hope they don't read this.

Helen is happy to chill out with me. I might even give her a TimTam.

A VOLUNTEER PHOTOGRAPHY TUTOR

I bet you didn't know that I am a bear of many talents. When it was Diane's birthday, Mary said that I was smart enough to help Diane tutor at the University of the Third Age.
Here I am with my pointer and white board as well as my lesson notes, examples of good photos and photographic gear. I am ready to help Diane at her next class.

Diane is pretty happy about that and thanks Mary for getting me ready to help with the lectures.

We had a yummy Italian lunch at La Porchetta in Loganholme. It is great to see my friend Paul, in the blue sweater, be here to celebrate with us because he is beary beary sick with cancer.

ANYONE FOR A CUPPA?

When it was Mary's birthday, Ann turned me into a tea lady bear. I was beary, beary pleased with that because I would be able to snack on morning tea nibblies when I helped Mary prepare afternoon tea for her church.
I have on my best top and pants and pretty shoes. Mary is happy to have me as a helper. Hee hee she doesn't know how much I love to eat cakes, slices and cookies especially when they have honey in them.

Ann helped me cook a lovely honey and nut slice......oooooooooh my mouth is watering, Mary is holding them right under my nose.

After lunch at the Runcorn Tavern I made the wrinkles a cup of tea and I let them have a piece of slice but I made sure there was plenty left for me.

I'M ALLOWED TO BE A COMPUTER NERD

It was Bill's birthday last month and the wrinklies took me to Sunnybank Hotel to celebrate. Helen and Paul got me ready and can you believe it they gave me my own computer? I'm so happy to be going home with Bill where I can play on my computer all day. I love it just as much as Bill does.

Bill was happy to have me go home with him and  play along side him. I even have an Apple the same like Bill. (But I think it is only a pretend Apple)

Paul made me my very own computer desk too and I have a spot in Bill and Diane's family room. Helen bought me a new pair of sandals too just like Bill's.
I thought I would go out in sympathy with Bill and take a lens out of my glasses like Bill has because he had a cataract hoperashon. I'm glad I didn't have to have a hoperashon.

I even let my beard grow so I would look like Bill with his white beard. Now I have to learn how to write my own posts so Diane doesn't have to help. Trouble is I don't have any pingers.

I'M A LUMBERJACK AND I DONT CARE

Whoo Hoo its George's 70th birthday and the wrinklies are taking me to Woodgate and Bagara on the central coast of Queensland for a few days. Unfortunately I had to stay hidden in my bag until it was Birthday Dinner time in Bagara. On the first night there, the wrinklies went off to watch the loggerhead turtles nesting, they were out all night and I am itching to get out of my bag and surprise George.

The next morning, Diane lets me out of the bag. It was nice to be able to stretch up tall. I am a tree lopper today.

While I was stretching, the wrinklies went for a walk along the beach at Bargara.

That evening I was smuggled down to the pool area where we were going to have a BBQ dinner by the pool. I had my ear protectors on and my chain saw ready to help George when he goes tree lopping.

Soon George arrived and he  is happy to have a helper.

Yum we are having sausages and steak for dinner. I love sausages. I was even allowed a sip of beer because we didn't have to drive anywhere.

We were staying in apartments with a nice pool area. We watched the moon rise it was a lovely tropical night. I was disappointed when George said I wasn't allowed to saw any trees down in the apartment's garden.

I PLAYED SANTA

My blog helper is a bit behind. She is catching up with my last 3 outings. Just before Christmas we all went to a German restaurant for a lunch. I played Santa.  Chris was kind enough to dress me and she was thoughtful enough to give me shorts because it is very hot here at Christmas time.

I had a chocolate Christmas bear for each wrinkly and one for me. The wine was to share but I wasn't allowed any as I was driving my slay home.

My happy bunch of wrinklies.

They had interesting German meals. I tried some ham and cheese...yum yum.

I had a bite of sausage but I didn't like the sauerkraut. We all went home with full tummies.

ON HOLIDAYS WITH THE WRINKLIES

For Ann's Birthday way back in last November, my wrinkly friends took me to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat for a few days holiday. We had a great view of the mountains and Lamington national Park from our room.

L to R: Ann, Bob, Mary, Chris, George, Helen, Paul, Diane, Bill.
All my wrinkly friends came on this trip even Chris and Bob who are usually are travelling on the road somewhere. However, I was a bit disappointed in them on this trip to say the least and this is why.........

 They fed the birds.......

Shared their lunch with the birds..........

Diane shared her apple with the Eastern Rozella but what did I get???? Diddly squat that's what I got.

However, they did take me to dinner to celebrate Ann's birthday. Mary had dressed me perfectly in holiday clothes because Ann and I love planning and going on holidays that is "vacations" in American language.

I had my casual clothes, a camera and shoulder bag as well as a backpack, money box to save for holidays and a scenic calendar of great places to visit.

Ann was pleased to see the backpack was full of brochures and puzzle books. We are going to have fun planning our next trip.

 Dontcha love my new sneakers???

 And my sunhat ??

BUT just look at that they are planning to eat a feast while I'm left here on the side table and get forgotten. Not even a taste of dessert or wine. What is happening to my wrinklies??? Not only that but they didn't take me on any of their walks or bus tours either.
