BIRTHDAY BEAR TRADITION

I have 9 old, wrinkly friends, who are retired or semi-retired. Five of them all used to work together and the other four are husbands. They didn't want to lose touch when they retired so they decided to meet and have lunch or dinner when it was their birthdays. However, they got disenchanted with buying a present every time, and decided instead to give a Birthday Bear (thats me.) I get passed from one birthday person to the next each time they meet. The fun part is, that I get to be dressed differently each time, usually to reflect some aspect of the recipient's personality or life.
PS: Two of my wrinklies, Chris and Bob, have gone on a working holiday tour around Australia so they don't celebrate with us very often.

I'M A PUZZLED BEAR

For Paul's Birthday my wrinkly friends took me to Scarborough Beach Resort for a few days. I love it here because I have a great view of Moreton Bay from my balcony. There were lots of jelly fish floating in the bay today. They looked a bit eeeeuuuuwy.
You are not going to believe this but my friends left me in the unit while they went to Morgans famous seafood restaurant to celebrate Paul's Birthday. They reckoned there wouldn't be enough room for me but they said  they would come back to the unit to have dessert and coffee with me after dinner. Oh well thems the breaks.

It looks like Paul really enjoyed his seafood buffet. It is so good to see him smiling because he is very ill with cancer. He has had mesothelioma for 4 years now. Paul is one of the longest surviving patients with this illness. I guess he is happy to have reached another birthday. I admire his strength and determination to fight on.
I will help him forget his problems by helping him with his jigsaw puzzles. I bought him some new ones too. Paul loves jigsaw puzzles and he is so quick at finishing them.

When the oldies got home they were surprised to see me sorting out the puzzle pieces for Paul. They even gave me a piece of cake and a coffee.

Mary was the one who dressed me and helped me carry the puzzles. Paul was pleased to see he had a helper.
Early the next morning Paul couldn't sleep so we started doing one of the new puzzles. It was fun helping Paul. We finished the puzzle while the others went for a walk on the beach with the washed up jelly fish. eeeeyew.

  1. The beach looks like a lot of fun! We'd need some help doing one of those puzzles though! We've had a long and snowy winter, so a puzzle would be a great thing to do on a snowy weekend.
